ParticipantOK, so having now seen it, I can officially say that Freaky Doll is freaky!
It represents his relationship with his father, and the similarities he has with his father. So in keeping that doll with him, he’s being constantly reminded of his daddy issues, his abandonment issues, and his cowardice.
Belle told him to let the past so, go he ditched the doll, hoping to free himself of the burden of the past, so he could do the right thing by Henry. But the doll came back to him, so NL(/PP?) doesn’t want him to forget his past.
So, does NL want him to have the constant reminder of his past because it will hinder his mission…or because it will help his mission? What exactly is NL hoping Rumple will succeed/fail at achieving?
One thing I noticed though – does the jacket remind anybody of anything? It’s blue with gold trim, right? Like the one Beast usually wears? Just something I noticed. 🙂
Yep, someone posted side by side pics on tumblr recently and they look really similar. Love that sort of attention to little details.

ParticipantJust did my rewatch:
1) I think it’s very clear that Hook likes Emma. He wants her walls to come down so he can get to know her. He even says, “And who are you, Swan?”
2)But her response is: “Wouldn’t you like to know” and then after he responds, she walks off. In other words (to me): “My walls aren’t coming down for you. I’ve got other things to deal with–like a possible rouge Regina and parents who are very different from me and my son.”
I liked this scene because I love me some genuinely vulnerable Hook. It wasn’t innuendo this time, there was a softness in his voice when he said, “Perhaps I would,” that sounded like simple honesty IMO. Emma’s reaction was very, “I’ve got enough to deal with right now, don’t seriously think that I’m in the mood to be hit on,” and I actually felt kinda sorry for him being shot down like that. Considering all the other times he’s flirted with her though, he can’t expect her to instantly accept that his intentions have become more genuine.
I think the necklace that belonged to Eva was an interesting detail, perhaps meaningless or perhaps it might lead into the writers exploring that Snow and Charming having a sense of what it even means to be a mother that Emma lacks, because of the examples they had of Ruth and Eva.
That thing with the necklace really struck me too, because they had to have put it in there for a reason, and I like this explanation. Both Snow and Charming lost their parents, but they’d known their parents, had been able to establish that emotional connection to them, they had things to hold onto, like Ruth’s ring, Eva’s necklace, and all the memories. Emma had none of that from her own parents.
I am a bit worried at the hidden depth of Emma’s resentment because while we knew she would still have issues with Neal, I thought she was further along on forgiving. The only thing is, when Pan mentioned Henry I knew it is something Emma will have to heal because she has to believe that Henry would forgive her too. So fundamentally her situation has not changed, even if right now she has gone backwards emotionally, but I think she will make progress rapidly on it. I have a feeling Charming’s injury might spark the realization that she truly loves her parents too despite the years of loss. I hope that of course would feed into a much later realization with Neal.
I absolutely think that the way they’re having her dig down into all her emotional turmoil about being abandoned, and about abandoning Henry, is setup for her dealing with those similar issues concerning Neal. She can’t deal with one, without dealing with the other. If they’d only brought it all up once Neal gets back, then it wouldn’t ring true if she’s been playing happy families with her parents in the meantime. But having her start to work through it now, I think will put her in a better position to accept Neal, by the time he shows up.

ParticipantI’m sure they’ll save him. I know they originally wanted to kill Charming off in the Pilot, but I doubt they’d go there with him now. Josh and Ginny are this show’s supercouple, so it wouldn’t really make sense to write one of them off the show.
Hook could know the antidote. Tink could know the antidote. Pan for sure would know the antidote. Or maybe it’ll turn out, that Emma’s magic will be able to fix him.
Emma’s just admitted that she’s an orphan, as her first real step on her little journey of self discovery. The fact that they addressed her not truly accepting them as her parents, suggests to me that part of this journey will be eventually accepting that they are her parents, and they love her, and will always be there for her. Perhaps by the time she’s about ready to accept that, will be around the time that Charming can no longer hide his injury, and when Emma can tap into that emotion that’s necessary to fully accept her father, it will also allow her to generate the magic needed to heal him.
Perhaps?

ParticipantYou know an ep is gonna be good when you’re already like 0________0 when you’re only one minute in.
Now that we know that someone can remove their own shadow and control it, I’m pretty convinced that the Shadow is Pan’s shadow, and he just uses his own dagger to cut it off and let it loose whenever he needs it to go and do something.

ParticipantSo excited to see what Tink’s deal is!!
Wonder if this is when Regina gets separated from the group? There are only four of them who appear to be confronting Tink, and the Regina scene when she’s knocked out is one on one.

ParticipantWhat I wouldn’t give to be a fly on the wall for a Colin and Mikey jam session! That’d be so fun.

ParticipantHaven’t watched the ep yet, but saw this thread title and had to peek to see if I could do the I-guessed-right-happy-dance.
We also now know that the doll was given to Rumple by his father.
*happy dance* 😛
Will be back to actually say something constructive after I’ve watched the ep.

ParticipantWill his usual undying belief hold up? “His belief will change,” Jared Gilmore teased. “He believed in Emma and her being the savior. And then the second season, he believed about Fairytales and in his family and friends. Now, he doesn’t have anyone to believe in.”
Well now I just wanna hug poor, lost, lonely, little Henry.

ParticipantFelix is obviously ruthless enough that he has ZERO moral qualms about what PP is asking them to do–
Oh totally, which is one of the reasons I’ve wondered whether Felix may have had his heart taken. What I’m wondering though is if Felix is under the impression that Pan’s plan is something worse than what Pan’s actual plan is? Like, does Felix think the plan is to ultimately kill Henry, but the actual plan is to keep him very much alive, (and Felix is the one who’s gonna get dead instead)?
