Or, perhaps since Rumple had been abandoned by his father, he in turn became a lost boy and got abducted into Neverland himself. Peter thought Bae was the boy he wanted because of the resemblance to Henry, so the same could have happened with Henry’s Grandpa.
Oooo, this is an intriguing possibility!

ParticipantRumple definitely had dealings with PP of some description. Judging by his demeanour at the end of the finale, he knows exactly what they’re heading towards, and he’s not looking forward to it.
The way I’m currently thinking about the PP situation though is that he is the one with the upper hand, and I can’t really imagine him doing a big favour like this for Rumple. I’m thinking that PP used Rumple as a pawn the way Rumple used everyone else as a pawn, and all this pawn using wasn’t really for the purpose of Rumple finding his son…it was for PP to bring Henry to him.
I’m also starting to think that PP could be the “boy” that will be Rumple’s undoing, and who will also lead him to his son. Something will go down in NL that will result in Rumple losing his powers, and then PP will show them the way to get home, and then Rumple will be truly reunited with Nealfire.
(I reserve the right to completely change my mind about any and all of this over the course of the coming months, these are just my initial musings on the possibilities, of which there are many.)

While keeping Belle in SB hurt from a ship standpoint, it also makes no sense in regards to how they want to tell the story next season. The ratings hurt the first half of this season because people (causal viewers) could keep up with all the lands and timelines. And now we have:
FTL of the past
FTL of the present with Neal and MAP
NL of the past
NL of the present
SB of the presentI just don’t know how they intend to do all this.
I think they’ve learned from season 2 though, because they also say…
KITSIS: We are not going to be doing episodes next season that have five different worlds in them. We definitely plan not to overly confuse or complicate the show. It’s about simplifying.
I take this to mean that any given episode will be limited (for the most part) to one location in present day and one location in flashback. Sometimes those might both be set in the same world, which I would in particular expect for the NL stuff. Sometimes they might be in different worlds, like if we get Nealfire in FTL paralleled with his history in our world. Sometimes they might not have flashabacks at all, and have present day SB paralleled with present day NL. I think if they’re careful with it, they’ll be able to progress the storyline in the 3 different lands without overlapping too much stuff in any one ep and making it all confusing.

One of the finale’s biggest surprises is that Rumpelstiltskin seems to have tangled with Pan before.
KITSIS: He absolutely knows who Peter Pan is. In true Mr. Gold/Rumpel style, he knows more than Greg and Tamara.
ADAM HOROWITZ: And there’s certainly the implication that there’s a history there, one we’re eager to unfold. This I cannot wait to see. Did Rumple go to NL? Did Pan go to FTL? What sort of interactions have they had? Is it time for season 3 yet? How about now? NOW?!

I see, some love the Blue Fairy so much, that we desperately need to find a way to make her one of the big badies, the big bad even, the puppet master behind everything. After all, badies are the one getting more attention and we’re more attracted to them than the just good hero. Either big tragedy, anti-hero, or big bad, best both 😉
It’s got to the point where I just want her to be something, so she’s something more than a plot device who only pops up ever so conveniently when she’s needed. Actually, she didn’t even need to pop up in the finale to still be a plot device, which is getting beyond the joke. At least K&H were good natured enough to recognise that it was ridiculous and have Rumple snark about it. 😛
Despite what the name suggests, fairy tales are seldom about fairies, and not even always having a fairy in them. And if, most of the times fairies are just a plot device. After all the tales are not meant to tell us to dream away and always trust some fairy to get things done for us, but that in the end we are in charge of our lives and have to go out on adventures and take our chance to find happiness. Face your fears, find courage, and forget about the fairies is the message. Blue Fairy is a character in good fairy tale tradition.
But this show isn’t your standard fairytales, it’s the story we were never told before. In this particular medium, and on this particular show where everyone we thought we knew actually has more of a back story, Blue’s plot divisiveness sticks out like a sore thumb.

That’s a fair description! 😆 Colin definitely does more for me with the scruff.

ParticipantIt just occurred to me that shadows are tied to the passage of time in the sense that the angle of a shadow can tell you the time of day. So perhaps your idea of removed shadows fueling NL’s ability to prevent aging could be tied into that somehow? Obviously you don’t have to have your shadow removed in order to not age, but maybe just as long as it happens to enough people, it works for everyone?
Man, my brain is gonna be mush by the time hiatus is over and I’ve spent months pondering this stuff. 😆

T-word is canon guys. Myril added it to our acronyms page. It’s Canon! *twitch*
Love it, thanks myril! 😆
If time in NL passes at all, and I don’t think it does because Peter uses the shadows of the captured boys to fuel the island and keep it from moving in time thus remaining the boy who didn’t want to grow up (my theory at present), then it moves much slower.
Time has to “pass” in the sense that the forces of the cosmos are in motion, so they have day and night, (we’ve seen both in NL). In our world, we use the constraints of a thing called “time” to measure and explain that. But I don’t think that our explanation of time applies to whatever’s going on in NL.

ParticipantAnd did he see that Charmingstiltskins&Co would be coming to NL now? Because if so, then he’s gonna be prepared for their coming, so rescuing Henry won’t exactly be a piece of cake.

So. Much. WORD. *headdesk*
😆At the end of the day I dunno that we can really compare the passage of time in NL to the passage of time in other worlds, because I think it has to be a totally separate thing. Wendy didn’t say, “No wonder it felt like time was racing by when I was there.” To her, it seemed that she’d been there longer…days and night still felt like the same amount of time…but she was gone for more days and nights than she actually was. In this case, “it’s magic” is enough of an explanation for me. Trying to understand it any other way makes my head hurt.
