Poor Rumple…Sounds like he had to learn the hard way that all magic comes with a price.
Yes indeed. No wonder he makes sure everyone knows up front that there’ll be a price. He’s showing them a courtesy he wasn’t afforded himself.

I’m thinking that the deal Rumpel makes with Bae is about getting rid of the curse. And because Rumpel always honours his deals he’s still working on getting it done.
I like that idea!

ParticipantHmmm, I wouldn’t say they look “chummy” to me. August looks like he’s standing there pretty casually, but Mr Gold looks a bit tense. If August has possession of the dagger, that effectively makes him Mr Gold’s boss. That’d explain August’s casual stance (he’s got nothing to fear from this man who intimidates everyone else in town), and Mr Gold’s lack of smiling, (he doesn’t like someone having power over him), in these pics.

I think Emma is a smart girl. She would know that he was the most powerful person she could go to when she wants to defeat Regina. I think she would be smart enough to use him and his powers to her advantage.
She’s pretty much already said as much when he asked if she was willing to do whatever needed to be done. It’s just that she doesn’t realise the full extent of what she’s agreed to.
Would she want to back out of the association with him if she finds out exactly who he is and exactly what he’s done? Hmmmmm…
Whenever that happens, she’ll no longer be in denial about all this fairytale stuff. If she knows and believes that Mr Gold is Rumple, she’ll also know and believe that Regina isn’t just Mayor Mills, she’s also the Evil Queen. So Emma may have to conceed that like it or not, she’ll still need Mr Gold, because he knows far more about Regina, her history, her powers, and how to bring her down, than Emma will ever know herself. She’d be at a severe disadvantage if she didn’t keep him on side.
Also, once she’s aware of what he’s really capable of, she probably wouldn’t want to make an enemy of him. Would she want to be fighting against BOTH Rumple at the Evil Queen? I wouldn’t want to if I were here.
I’m quite sure she wouldn’t appove of what he’s done in his other life, but she may sympathise if she learns the entire story, including that he only got his powers in the first place because he was trying to protect his son. That’s something she’d be able to relate to, especially if she’s discovered that Henry’s adoptive mother is in fact the Evil Queen. Emma would want any power she could get that would protect Henry, the same way Rumple wanted power to protect Bae, so maybe she’d have some level of understanding with him on that.

Even if they haven’t specifically stated it, it’s safe to assume given their age that they grew up loving Star Wars. 😉 There are certainly parallels between Rumple and Anakin.

It wouldn’t surprise me if it turns out that August was the one who brought baby Henry to Storybrooke. Thus far, he’s the only person we’ve seen who is able to come into town from outside, (apart from Emma, who obviously didn’t deliver Henry there herself). That could also explain why Regina found him familiar, (if she legitimately did find him familiar). Maybe she got a quick glimpse of him 10 years ago when he was there handing the baby over to Mr Gold?
Was just writing something about this elsewhere and had another thought I wanted to add over here too. If it was August who brought Henry to town, that could potentially explain away the different hair/eye colour problem. If he was 10 years younger, clean shaven and a redhead last time he was in town, his current appearance would make sense, because he would have changed just enough so he wasn’t instantly recognisable. But he’d still be the same person, which could be why Regina feels she’s seen him before.
That explanation would also fit if he were Bae, or anyone else for that matter. As long as Regina recognises him as someone she’s seen in Storybrooke before, as opposed to someone she knew from FTL.

ParticipantThanks for the link! Must be SUCH a fun job to design costumes for a show like this.
Thing that excited me most about those fairies is that the sketches didn't have the jellyfish tentacles. LOL Wonder who these next fairies will be. Aren't there 3 fairies in Sleeping Beauty?Hmmm, just googled to check and they were dressed in red, blue and green in the Disney version, so ruby, fuschia and rainbow don't exactly match that. Nevermind.

Regina can really hold a grudge and as we know be quite vengeful. I think she is going to try and rid FTL of her mother.
The only way Regina would feel completely free of her mother would be if she no longer existed, so I agree, she wanted her out of FTL. That’s why I think Regina banished her mother to Wonderland after stealing her powers.
I almost feel that Cora would be proud of Regina seeking revenge and becoming darker in character. Like she would give herself a pat on the back thinking “WOW, I taught my daughter well!”
That’d be pretty messed up, “Look at you so vengeful against me, I’m so proud!” LOL

It’d be a terribly boring world if everyone saw everything in exactly the same way.
Lol, to a point I agree- there’d a lot less fighting & war if we all did agree a little more tho 😉
We had a psychology exercise a few yrs ago now, but the results stuck with me- out of 25 people there was 7 distinctly different interpretations of the exact same photo lol. It was interesting to understand the way the mind works in coming to the conclusions it makes- Me I have a highly logical & analytical brain, so any discrepancies tend to fly out & bug me if no logical explanation is forth coming lol 😉Ah, if only differing interpretations of TV shows was the closest we got to “war” in this world. It’s fascinating how we all see things differently though. I can be incredibly analytical too, but also let my imagination run away from me without making any attempt to reel it in, so can usually come up with some sort of reasoning for any discrepancies in logic. 😉
Well Ill be watching them all over again today & tomorrow, so maybe we’ll see what you’ve seen- but I really dont recall her “suck it up” attitude towards SW & PC in particular.
Well maybe not strictly “suck it up”, but she wasn’t out there deserately searching for other ways that could save more than one, though she knew Snow and Charming would HATE having to be separated. She was all, “This is it, the ONLY option.” So even though they didn’t like it, they had to accept it coz she was the authority on the situation and she wasn’t providing any other options.
As far as Dreamy & Nova go – Nova’s deepest wish was to be a fairy god mother, so BF would be obligated to keep that wish for her- she didnt (from memory here- so I could be wrong & Ill edit after watching that ep later today if it is) actually say you CANNOT go with Nova period, she said IF you do, Nova will not have her dearest wish of becoming a Fairy god mother (or something along those lines).
So she essentially laid a guilt trip on Dreamy to make him dump Nova because she wasn’t allowed to change her mind about wanting to be a Fairy Godmother if she wanted to be with Dreamy instead. (I haven’t re-watched this ep in a while either, just going off what I remember.) I wouldn’t wanna be on Blue Fairy’s bad side if this is how tough she is on people she likes. LOL
Would you accept the superficial reasoning that they had to be close in age so that they could cast a hottie for Emma to potentially hook up with when they were adults and they could become the next gen supercouple of the show? LOL
LOL!!! Well when you say it like that 😉
See, perfectly logical. 😆 Seriously, if I were Emma I’d be all, “Your pretty blue eyes are like the magical water from that lake that feeds the well. Whatever you say, I’ll believe you.” *swoon* 😉
I don’t think Pinocchio being sent as a protector, who has grown into August who is the motivator, takes anything away from Emma being the saviour.
My point was that if more than person could travel through that wardrobe, the whole savior going through isnt a big deal anymore- esp if theres gonna be a bunch of FT land folk calling reality home with all their memories intact cause they went through a wardrobe that we clearly & repeatedly got told could take only one.
I agree, it’d get ridiculous if it turns out a whole buncha folks could easily travel between FTL and our world, and that would diminish the integrity of the show. But I’m assuming that if August got away, he was a one off case.
Personally I want to see August being special in someway I think, I think his name is a big clue & as we have his middle name I think that is a clue in its self as to who he really is 🙂
Have you read about Wayne Booth the literary critic? That seems the obvious go to explanation for his middle and last name IMO. And the Grimms had a close friend named August who assisted them in their work, so I’m wondering if that’s where his first name is from. Those are fitting places to get the name of a character who is a writer who messes with a book of fairytales which dictates the main plot of the show.

Yes, Mr. Gold did “procure” Henry for Regina…but who is the person who brought Henry from the outside world into Storybrooke? Since Mr. Gold is stuck in Storybrooke like everyone else someone had to physically get baby Henry into Storybrooke and give him to Mr Gold.
Indeed! It wouldn’t surprise me if it turns out that August was the one who brought baby Henry to Storybrooke. Bringing this up takes me back to my August is Henry’s father theory (which doesn’t preclude him also being Bae). It would be interesting if Henry’s father only stuck around long enough to, um, do the deed – knowing that Henry was a part of the whole plan. It does make me wonder why Emma wouldn’t remember him but I guess if it was a one night stand and he’s 10 years older now . . .
When Emma was telling Henry the story about his father, I got the sense that only the ending was made up. When she was talking about him coming into the diner and how he always asked if they had pumpkin pie, she seemed genuinely nostalgic IMO. Then she realised she’d need to fabricate the ending of the story because she didn’t want Henry knowing that his father ended up being a married man who had an affair with Emma then dumped her right after getting her pregnant. So I think Emma would recognise August if he was Henry’s father.

I re-watched the Pilot episode yesterday and saw a new clue for trusting August’s intentions. When Emma rides down the Main Street, a crane shot lifts our viewpoint through the traffic light, which is red in that episode. In 1×10 True North, that same crane shot repeats with a green light when August rides his motorcycle down the Main Street. Since the traffic light is above the characters’ points of view, I’m taking that as a hint for us viewers. One interpretation is that the show’s writers are telling us to stop ourselves from going with Emma’s spin on everything and go with August’s.
Very cool observation. Nicely spotted! 😀

I’m still stuck on Regina saying that he seems familiar. I don’t see August seeming familiar to her as either Pinocchio or Bae.
Especially not if he’s gone and changed his hair and eye colour. 😛 She’d have had no knowledge of what Bae looked like at all. Coulda seen Pinocchio once or twice, but yeah, as a redhead, so that doesn’t exactly jive.
I’ve never really taken her “he seems familiar” as truth though, I figured maybe she just said that to Emma so she seemingly had a reason to want to know more about him. If she’s demanding info on a complete stranger, she looks suspect. If she appears curious because she thinks she may know him, that’s slightly less suspect.
Maybe she noticed that Pinocchio was missing when they all got to Storybrooke, (she didn’t know them well in Fairytale, but knew enough to know that Geppetto had a son), and she’s always wondered where he got to, and now this guy shows up, and she wonders if he could be him, so she needs info on him.

They told us to pay attention when August talked about Lemurs – which we all then ran and read about Lemurs – the cute little monkey like creatures. But I think he was actually talking in riddles about Lemures – the ghosts of ancestors who had less than stellar deaths. I’m wondering if somehow August is a human form of a ghost of someone important to Regina like her father or Daniel. I wondered about Daniel since he was a stable boy and the motorcycle could represent a horse. Both Henry Sr. and Daniel would probably seem familiar to Regina in another life because they are probably the two people she loved the most – so even if they didn’t look the same, something about their mannerisms would seem familiar to her.
Interesting theory. I do kinda wish there was a way for Daniel to come back somehow, because much as I hate Regina, it’d be nice if eventually she can have her heartbreak repaired somehow, and I’m thinking that having Daniel back would be the only way that could ever happen.
It’s not totally outta left field to say he coulda been talking about “lemures” as opposed to “lemurs”. I mean, he was talking about prayer temples, and if ever there’s a place where spirits would be. If only we had a copy of the script so we could see how it was spelled. 😉
