ParticipantSnowing represent the “perfect” relationship on TV (Nothing will tear them apart), CaptainSwan represent the stereotypical Bad boy/Good girl dynamic (including bad boy changes to be worthy of girl). RumBelle are interesting because there relationship isn’t perfect. They bring out the best and worst in each other, they have their ups and downs, they argue and make up. RumBelle is a relationship about hope.

ParticipantTwo completely different things. Snow wasn’t running around lying and murdering behind Charmings back. Whatever problems they had, they worked through them together. Never against one another.
Snow murdered Cora when Charming told her not to. Charming lied about the dreamshade. Regina murdered Marian and was so blasé about it she didn’t even remember she’d done it when she hooked up with Marian’s husband. Hook hasn’t told Emma various things that she should probably know about. Neal didn’t tell Emma the truth but instead just left her and let her belief he’d betrayed her. Point is ALL the couples on Once have a problem in some way.
I think Belle should take Rumple back after he has earned her trust and forgiveness because he loves her and she loves him. He screwed up, that doesn’t mean he can’t try and make it right.

ParticipantAnd when all that pain and suffering has been because of her true love…what ending do *you* want for her? How about self respect. How about internal peace? How about knowing that she had the strength to stand up and say, “I love you….but I love myself too. And I deserve better than constantly looking over my shoulder wondering if/when you will decide that power is more important than me”
By that logic then Snowing shouldn’t be together because all the crap that has happened to Charming has been because of Snow and her feud with Regina.
Belle has self respect and strength. If she didn’t she’d never have kicked Rumple out of Storybrooke, she’d never stand up for herself, she’d never call Rumple out on his crap. Belle giving Rumple a second chance does not mean she’s lost her self-respect or strength and that she’s become a doormat.

ParticipantHere’s the thing, though: Can Belle have a happy ending without the man she loves as part of it? It doesn’t weaken her character in the slightest for her to want to be with her True Love, on terms she can live with as a good person.
I agree.
I do think that taking away almost every loving moment Rumple could have had in S4A really hurt the character’s portrayal, and that was an A&E mistake. But in the cut scenes they showed us (and declared canonical, whatever that means if you don’t think it’s important enough to put in the show as it airs), there’s a bit more of the complex man we’re talking about. The one that’s worth seeing redeem himself.
I completely agree. We could’ve done with a bit less Frozen and more focus on the existing characters that we’ve loved since season 1. At this stage of the game, the writers should be concentrating on maintaining their existing audience base rather than trying to draw in new audience members with Shiny!Shiny!Shiny! which they then drop and move on from every 11 episodes. If your existing audience is happy, they’re the ones likely to bring in new audience members through word of mouth. Once isn’t a show you can just drop in on halfway through it’s fourth season run.
Belle’s been punished a LOT for loving a villain. 9/10 bad things that have happened to her have been related to the fact that she loves Rumple. So after all that pain and suffering…what outcome do you want for her? Something less than true love?
I agree.

ParticipantFinally finished watching all the videos. Have to say though that Lee was a bit of a wet blanket on proceedings. It seemed like he didn’t want to be there, that he wasn’t interested and it was kind of annoying how he tried to shut down the shipping questions like he did and just his general attitude. The other actors especially Sean Maguire handled the shipping questions very well, they answered it diplomatically, they joked about it. The panels without Lee had more energy to them where the actors were bouncing off of each other and joking around and just generally having fun. The first panel with Lee seemed a bit stilted and very constrained.
I enjoyed the Robbie Kay Q&A panel the most where the other actors joined him. The four of them were having fun, laughing and joking and even poked fun at the shipping issue.

ParticipantThe only character we’ve seen who was evil for the sake of being evil was Pan. He was selfish and evil to the core. No true remorse either for what he was doing.
Pan wasn’t evil for the sake of evil, his reasons just weren’t explored to the extent that Regina’s, Rumple’s, Cora’s, Zelena’s, Ingrid’s, etc were explored. Pan was still a selfish person though and but his own wants and needs above anybody else including his own son but he didn’t just wake up and go “hey, I’m going to be evil today”.

ParticipantI think Belle would be able to forgive him. The question is- will that be enough? It’s easier to forgive than to forget. Sometimes forgivness is not enough.
Why do I get images of a situation where something will happen in town and Belle will accuse Rumple of being behind it even though he is innocent?

OutlawQueen- I don’t hate OQ, I like the second chance idea behind OQ, however I dislike the way its been executed on the show. 3B it felt too rushed, I would’ve liked to have seen Robin and Regina actually get to know each other before starting a romance. 4A kind of butchered Robin’s character and a tiny bit of Regina’s too, I would’ve preferred Robin to actually have made a decision and stick to it and show a backbone instead of doing what he did of choosing one woman because of obligation then running back to the other when his first choice got frozen then talk about how he only chose the first woman out of obligation with the other woman when the first woman wasn’t even frozen yet and was lying on the couch in front of him.
I’d be interested to see how they handle OQ in 4B because Marian’s okay with it and that whole situation is over and done with now so it’d be interesting just to see what sort of direction they take it in this time.
Second choice would be CaptainSwan but that is very dependent on how I feel towards Hook. He’s quite a divisive character for me and my opinion on him can change every few episodes. So whilst I wouldn’t have considered CS for this category in 3B, it’s kind of here because of 4A.
