I don’t think Rumple killed Milah out of spite, he did it because he needed protect his unborn child and Hades was holding all the cards.

What I find interesting though is that Rumple is yet again paying for the mistake of trying to be a good man in his past and not wanting to be a murderer. Also the fact that Milah sends Rumple to do the deed rather than doing it herself plays into the expected gender roles of men in the EF which unfortunately for Rumple he didn’t fit into.

Well yes she consented and it is Rumple not some other guy, but she doesn’t have all the facts. She is believing something about Rumple and he’s deliberately keeping vital information about himself that would likely change Belle’s perception of him, from her. She doesn’t know, in the emotional sense, who she is sleeping with.

    Quote

Right. The same thing with Jonathan and Cora. She thought he was a king, but he was a farmer. Then HE called HER greedy, making things worse (i.e. victim-blaming).

    Quote

I can see both your points but at the same time I still disagree with them.

Belle was in her right mind and knew she was sleeping with Rumple. Rumple didn’t trick her into it. Therefore, Belle fully consented. If a woman chooses to sleep with her husband, and he doesn’t tell her that he’s become the CEO of a company planning world-domination, does that make any difference? He is still her husband, she chose to sleep with her husband. I think the same applies to RumBelle. Although Rumple hasn’t told Belle he’s the DO, he is still Belle’s husband and Belle chose to sleep with her husband.

Jonathan and Cora is a bit more murky. She consented to sleep with the guy. However, she consented to sleep with the guy because she thought he was a king. He duped her in that respect. However, Cora’s motivations were basically gold-digging which in itself is hardly upstanding. Cora was in her right mind when she chose to sleep with the guy so he wasn’t taking advantage as such but did he trick her into it? Jonathan wasn’t pretending to be someone else aka James pretending to be David or Zelena pretending to be Marian so Cora consented to sleep with Jonathan in that regard. However she chose to sleep with him because he led her to believe he was a king which was a lie.

I’m going to say that Cora did consent to sleep with Jonathan of her own free will but it was a choice she later regretted. He didn’t force her or take advantage of her in the sense that she made the choice to sleep with him, however, he did give her false information which led her to come to her decision.

Hades or Rumple (because he had to) choosing those 3 names was a stroke of genius because it guarantees that all six of them would stay in the underworld. Not only is it one half of each couple meaning one won’t leave without the other, but it also banks on male pride. Whilst Charming probably can’t leave without Snow because of the shared heart thing, it would look bad on Hook and Robin if they turned around and went “see yah” to Emma and Regina. If it had been the male names on the gravestones, they would have probably convinced the women to leave because EF society is patriarchal and sets gender roles eg men are the “protectors” whilst women keep the home running smoothly. This is why Spinner RUmplwas looked dowon by the rest of his villiage because he didn’t fit the traditional gender role that sociey expected of him.

A good episode and the best of the season so far.

    Liked

Hades- We actually have a villain who is an actual threat to EVERYBODY instead of just one particular person. All cards are off the table because you don’t know what Hades is going to do next.

Cruella- Cruella always adds a touch of humour to any situation.

Rumple explaining Emma’s connection to Hook and Baelfire and Milah’s reaction- It was about time that this was addressed.

Milah- She was actually likeable and you could see why things ended up the way they did between her and Rumple. Her first meeting with Hook was better. It seems like she went to the tavern many times with Killian before she decided to run away with him instead of what was implied in The Crocodile where it seemed like she’d literally just met him before running away.

Rumple- Poor Rumple, yet again getting screwed over by trying to be a good man in the past. The writer have definitely given Rumple some purpose back and given him back his core: that of a father doing whatever it takes to protect his child. Rumple isn’t doing unsavoury things just to be evil, he’s doing them because the safety of his child is at stake and he is putting his child first. The “heroes” have been willing to through Rumple under a bus, Belle called them out on it in 5A, so it’s only fair that Rumple puts his family first over the Charming clan. Also Snowing can’t have a go at Rumple about what he is doing in order to protect his child, considering they stole Maleficent’s baby and put all of Emma’s darkness in her then sent her away because they wanted to protect THEIR child.

    Mixed

Bae touching the snake- Surely don’t go touching snakes is plain common sense.

    Dislike

Hook still being all revengey over Rumple- Hook needs to just let it go. Hook is going to start something, it’ll come back and bite him in the arse, and then he’ll play the innocent little victim. Either he or Rumple need to be the bigger man and just let things lie.

Emma is kind of becoming a little bit of a bunny boiler in regards to Hook. She can’t just let him go. She can’t live without him, she has to be with him, she’s too clingy, etc.

LOL at Liam not liking Emma and thinking she’s not good enough for his little brother. Emma’s gotten so used to people thinking the sun shines out her backside, she doesn’t know what to do when she meets someone who doesn’t think of her as the golden girl. LOL.

This is probably an “out-there” theory, but here it goes. I wonder if Pan’s pipes can be used to rescue the lost souls from what I’m assuming is the River Lethe. Pan used it on his lost boys, so might it work on lost souls?

This is not a happy storyline for me, I won’t lie. Yes, it re-centers Rumple’s story back on the idea of him being a father who would do anything for his child, but this is soooooo squicky. This baby was conceived through wonky-consent (Belle, not knowing that Rumple was the Dark One again and is still lying to her) and now it looks like Belle’s first born child is being threatened by Hades, which is rather unfair to both mother and child.

I disagree about the wonky consent part. Belle was in her right mind and consented to sleep with Rumple who is actually Rumple and not someone pretending to be him.

If it was James pretending to be David and Snow agreed to sleep with him because she thought it was her husband, that’s wonky consent right there.

If Lacey had consented to sleep with Keith even though he knew who he was, that would be wonky consent because Belle is not in her right mind.

Should Rumple tell Belle he’s the dark one? Yes, but the fact he didn’t tell her doesn’t make the consent wonky because Belle knew who she was sleeping with and consented.

With regards to the contract was it for Rumple’s second born or for Rumple and Milah’s second born or for either parent’s second born, that could lead to some interesting loophole options to the contract. Maybe there is a long lost baby Jones that may have actually payed this debt and Hades is totally bluffing on his end.

That is a good point and I could totally see Hades bluffing to get Rumple onside in order to remove him as a potential obstacle.

I don’t know why, but I’ve always wanted Zelena to end up with one of the dwarves, preferably Grumpy….I just feel they would make a hilarious couple! The sass would be strong in that one!

I think that Zelena and Loki from the Thor movies would make an interesting dynamic. Both snarky, both have issues with their siblings, both have magic, both like the colour green.

My favorite dwarf will be the one who finally stands up and yells “down with the monarchy” and starts the revolution.
