Yes, notice that I do have faith in David. I believe that I will be able to relinquish being the Keeper of his Low IQ one day . . .

I don’t hate his character, I actually find him somewhat comical in a strange way. It’s like every episode he is featured in you are watching the show and then he does something and I end up saying “And David manages to screw up all up AGAIN!” But the best part is that when he does insert his foot into his mouth his does it with those adorable puppy dog eyes and/or the single tear falling every so slowly down his cheek . . .while the breeze blows in one ear and right out the other ’cause there’s not a whole lot of wind resistance going on in between.

That’s pretty clever. So many actors and actresses have tattoos these days (and wrists seem to be especially popular) that they knew that if anyone noticed it they would probably assume it was her personal tattoo and wouldn’t give it a second thought!

I can’t decide if I will be relieved, excited, or annoyed if he is someone completely new or unexpected. After coming up with about six different theories I feel like I have so much time and energy invested in doing research on this character that I would like to be rewarded with having at least one of those theories be correct. But at the same time I feel like we’ve all kind of been beating multiple dead horses, so to speak, with the same theories over and over again so I would like to be taken by surprise with some twist that I never even saw coming – and OUaT has been pretty good at that so far!

I will say, we all weeped over how sweet and sentimental it was that Gold brought his chipped cup with him to SB from FTL as a reminder of his love for Belle You’ve got people posting written instructions on tumblr on how “You Too Can Create Your Own Chipped Cup”, there are now bracelets floating around on the internet with little teacups on them, and like a gazillion images of Gold looking down at the teacup protected in his hand from his SB jail cell all over the internet. After everything that happened to Rumple we understand his need for his keepsake and we are all so hopeful for a reunion for Gold and Belle.

Now on to Regina – the poor woman watched her mother rip her fiance’s heart out and kill him right before her eyes. She is desparately trying to kiss the poor fellow back to life and her mother picks her up, wipes her tears away and tells her to pull herself together because she’s about to become the Queen (yay, how exciting – smiles all around 😀 😀 ). Then Regina is standing all done up in her beautiful wedding gown looking like she’s had one too many valiums slipped into her afternoon tea when she discovers not only that the adorable little child who promised not to let her very understanding mother know about her secret love is the reason her mother killed her man, but then she figures out that the reason she even met the kid in the first place is because of her mother’s magic. Then in SB we see that Regina has also brought a keepsake of her love – the little saddle ring. . . and not only do we not even seem to care but we all decide that we still hate Regina because she nuts for hating a kid.

I think she’s nuts for hating a kid. But I just realized I need a 12 step program. My name is rumplegoldfan and I feel sorry for Regina.

I agree with hjbau that I don’t think Belle is going to be a series regular. Besides the fact that I haven’t heard anything about her coming back for season 2 (at some point they talked about her coming back in season 2 but then I never heard anything else about it again) I think it is way too early in the series for Gold to change his personality and be hanging out with Belle. He can’t change his reputation in SB and the only way I can see him having any kind of relationship with Belle would require him to go back to acting how he behaved with her when they were alone at his castle in FTL – and that goes totally against his SB personality.

I’m not saying Belle will never be a series regular, hopefully she will be sometime in the future – and I also don’t see them killing her off since they discussed bringing her back in season 2. Just knowing that Belle is alive and that he can’t have her can be enough to create internal conflict in Gold without needing to have Belle present in every episode – it can drive decisions he makes and affect his relationship with Emma and Regina. And then if they can work it out to get Emilie back for some episodes they will be that much more exciting for everyone!

Ha! So, yeah, there’s a reason I am the Keeper of David’s Low IQ. Although I am hopeful that I will be able to retire that possession when he remembers his FTL counterpart. The guy drives me freaking insane. I’ve never seen someone make such ridiculous decisions before. Granted, I know we are supposed to feel like he is a complete dork – I think they are also trying to make some kind of commentary on the fact that there is no such thing as Prince Charming in the real world. However, I think they have succeeded in creating the poster boy for clueless, and he is a perfect example of why one should “Think before you speak.”

I have the feeling that when Gold asks for his favor Emma will have come to trust Gold (even though he may still seem suspicious to her) based upon the outcomes he has been able to provide for her so even though his request may seem questionable I think she will trust him enough to go along with it.

I think Gold is lacking someone who trusts him in SB but he can’t let his guard down and let anyone get too close. I think that Emma is going to have to trust Gold before they are going to have her understand what he is all about – otherwise he loses some of his mystery and power. I think Emma’s character is being groomed to be too upstanding to refuse Gold’s request – that would be too easy, and I don’t see the savior being the type of person who would be able to give her word and then not follow through – even if she doesn’t realize that she is reliable yet, I think Gold knows that she is.

I’m starting to think that Regina really doesn’t have to do anything with or to Belle in order to mess with Gold. I think that Belle’s presence alone is a threat to Gold’s power and Regina knows it. The man spent 28 years tending to a chipped cup and beat a man with his cane when he thought he stole it from him. I think Regina knows that it will be very difficult for Gold to maintain his tough exterior if he knows that Belle is alive. She knows that he won’t want to allow his guard down but that it will be very difficult for him if Belle is there – especially if she knows who she is. Imagine if Belle knows who they both are but in order to maintain his reputation he has to allow Belle to think that he doesn’t regret kicking her out of the castle and allowing her to be captured by the EQ. I think that will almost kill him emotionally. I don’t know if his request will have anything to do with Belle but I wouldn’t be surprised if somehow Emma finds a way to repay Gold for the help I believe he will end up giving her throughout the series by finding a way to redeem him with Belle without sacrificing his reputation in SB. I think Emma is smart enough to recognize the need for Gold’s power and reputation but is also compassionate enough to understand that even Gold has the need for love.

In one of the very early episodes (possibly the pilot) when Regina is first talking to Emma, doesn’t Regina say that Henry has had a hard time since she became mayor because it takes so much of her time? I suppose that could have just been an excuse to placate Emma and get her to leave town since Regina has been mayor “as long as anyone can remember.”

Yes!! She did say that – I think it was the pilot. But now that I think about it, how exactly did that work – does that mean that Henry has had a hard time since he arrived?? Because don’t we assume that Regina has been the mayor since the curse was enacted? So I wonder if that is also an excuse that Regina has been trying to use with Henry only it doesn’t work because he realizes that she has ALWAYS been the mayor. Maybe that is part of the problem with their relationship and part of the reason he has had to be in therapy for so long. Did Regina and Archie even realize that Henry noticed that time stood still in Storybrooke? That could have been the beginning of the issue – once Henry got old enough to realize that something wasn’t right and started to verbalize that to Regina their relationship would have tanked – even if they had been very close and affectionate when he was younger, that would have been the end of their relationship!!

I wonder what would happen if Regina were to acknowledge that the book and the curse were real?? Even though she is the Evil Queen (awkward 😕 ), letting Henry know that she believes in him and acknowledging that he is right could actually help their relationship. Granted you still have the whole “my mom is a witch” issue to deal with but I guess it does open the door for honest discussion, right? To give Regina the benefit of the doubt here, how exactly is she supposed to deal with this situation – she either admits that she is the EQ and opens that whole can of worms or she lies and deals with issues there.

A couple of episodes ago (I’m not sure which one it was) when Regina gave Henry a video game to replace the loss of his book, he didn’t seem all that excited. When she asks what’s wrong, Henry says that he wants to see Emma again, and you can tell from the look on her face that she’s hurt. I think that Regina is mostly familiar with going through the motions of being a parent, taking him to school, feeding him when he’s hungry, checking his temperature when he’s sick, tucking him into bed when he’s sleepy, giving him presents, etc. As far as emotional love, I think Regina might be lacking in that department.

This is an example of where I think they might be setting us up in making us assume that Regina isn’t much of a parent. I think they tried to make us think that Regina took Henry’s book and then gave him a video game to make up for the fact that she took it. At this point, it doesn’t appear that was the case at all. It actually seems that Regina felt bad that Henry was upset about the loss of his book and gave him the video game in the hopes that it would cheer him up – she actually had nothing to do with the book’s disappearance at all. To me I saw her making an effort with Henry but I saw Henry rebuking her effort.

I guess what I am saying is that I made the assumption that Regina isn’t a good parent but when I look back at episodes I can’t really find a situation where I have seen Regina be a bad parent, yet I can find situations where Henry is purposely not accepting Regina’s attention and affection while purposely seeking out Emma’s attention and affection. I would like to see some of Regina and Henry’s backstory and what their relationship was like before Henry got the book.

I would love to get my hands on Archie’s notes! In reality (so to speak since this is a TV show) I wonder why Henry thinks Regina is evil. Is it only because he has identified her as the EQ and knows what she has done via the book? Is he harder on her because he knows she’s the evil queen so that when she tells him not to leave his shoes on the stairs and when she grounds him for sneaking out of the house he looks at that as evil as opposed to normal things that moms do? Does he assume that she is only pretending to love him because they books says she is incapable of love?

I guess I’m just a bit puzzled because I haven’t seen her be emotionally or physically abusive to Henry the way her mother was to her. And just because we haven’t seen the two of them be affectionate doesn’t mean they haven’t been. I almost wonder if the problem is Henry – and if that is the reason he was initially in therapy. Depending on when Henry got the book and realized Regina was the EQ, he could have been pulling away from her for years or months. What if they had a normal relationship and then he suddenly changed when he got the book? We don’t know if Henry knew he was adopted until he got the book – that could affect how he interacts with Regina as well.
