I think the original dark one is alive down in the vault, and I wouldn’t be surprised if Merlin does not want them to destroy it/her if it really is his lost lover. All in all I think your theory is in line with the basics of some others we have had. I do, however, think Emma is being genuine in her darkness. I think there is a reason why she is doing what she is doing and I doubt it’s to trick them into helping her.

I don’t see why a transformation spell would be out of her field of knowledge. Especially when she’s got MindRumpel in her head to give her some pointers.

Also the cloaked figure men sounds scary and interesting. I don’t feel as if they are previous dark ones if they are all identical, could be Hades henchman (because Pain and Panic probably wouldn’t look right on this show) but idk. Charon wore a hooded cloak so theres that… hmmm….

If so, this could be really big for Cora…. I mean she died with her heart in…and the last time she appeared in present day, she was willing to help the heroes. Perhaps she will be welcoming to her daughters and wish to make up for her wrongdoings.
If OUAT is smart and has the money, they could just CGI the likeness of previous villains onto, like ghost or spirit spectrums or however souls look. Especially if they only appear for a brief time.
What if Red Queen is down there. What if she died again (LOLZ!) and Will goes down there to free her. That’d explain why hes been all depressed, and there is a greek legend where a man goes down to hades to free his dead wife. And of course we know he succeeds because of the ending to WL. Idk. Just saying.
