ParticipantBo-Peeps, your words of wisdom always make me feel better when members of the fandumb are being absolutely ridiculous! And POM, you are without a doubt my favorite Hook-convert! I love our little group here…and all you lurkers out there, S4 will be here soon — we’d love to hear from you!!!! 🙂
I have a feeling Hook will be getting his hand back. Like others said, logistics is an issue. An interview that Colin gave at one point said it can get difficult because the writers often write for him like he has two hands, so what sounds great on paper isn’t always feasible. Additionally, as mentioned, the long black jacket does help in distracting from the difference in lengths, but other colors and clothing aren’t going to conceal it well. Can you imagine that kind of costuming nightmare? They’d have to have every top he wears special made and/or altered. I think keeping him in the pirate garb was definitely more symbolic as opposed to simply keeping him in a singular costume because it’s easy.
Personally, I don’t care if he loses the hook. What I want is to see the pirate come out in various situations. I’d love to see Hook get vicious if someone tries to hurt his newfound family. I can see him being especially protective of Henry. And I love me lots of Emma and Captain Innuendo! To me, the personality is what makes the character and there is so much personality with Hook, that I think they can get rid of the outside so long as his personality doesn’t change.

Yes agreed. By ‘easier’ I meant it’s going to be much harder, if not impossible to have Killian in modern shirts sans a jacket, that will still convincingly conceal the extra length of the hook attachment he currently has & lets face it- it’s going to look super weird if Killian has this great lump of a black thing, sticking out where his hand holds onto the hook in more fitted modern clothes, that part is well hidden by his billowy pirate shirts & jacket atm, so I wonder if they could make a new hook attachment for him that isnt as bulky if they dont give him his hand back? Because I also cant see how a motorcycle jacket will do a good job of concealing the bulk & length discrepancy of the hook attachment either- they are too fitted, so it’ll only highlight the differences I’d have thought.

ParticipantI think POM may be right about Henry getting between CS. In the Season 4 spoiler thread, I included a link to an Robert and Emile interview. RC states that Henry goes to Rumple because he is unhappy and wants his fake memories back. I hope he doesn’t blame Hook for bringing them back. RC states that he didn’t know Henry was going to work at the pawnshop.
Keeper of Hook and Emma's smoldering first kiss, a certain Pirate's sauciness, the Evil Queen's snarkiness, Grumpy's gruffness and a drop of true love to make it all go down smooth.

ParticipantI think the Henry/Rumple storyline will stem from the loss of Neal, not his discomfort with CS. I think Henry believes gettong his cursed memories back will dull that pain…cursed Henry had never met Neal and only knew the stories cursed Emma told him, so he was pretty ambivalent about Neal. Neal’s death had an effect on everyone but it was far more profound for Rumple and Henry. So from a CS standpoint I don’t think the Rumple/Henry storyline really intersects. I think Killian and Emma’s are going to stem from their pasts and having to work through internal problems as opposed to being faced with external problems.

ParticipantI agree Jenna.

ParticipantThat Henry/Rumple theory is what I’m hoping at least! I just would really love if they don’t do the whole ‘the kid’s upset about Mommy dating’ route because 1) I just don’t think Henry would behave that way and 2) it’s been done. Many, many, maaaaaany times. Let’s do something different and make the couple themselves the biggest challenges for the couple…you know, like real life! 🙂

ParticipantFrom the spoilers I’ve been reading (from comic con) that seems to be the case.captain swan’s issues next season will be more internal than external. Emma’s walls aren’t going to disappear overnight and Hook will be fighting to be someone worthy of Emma’s love. I haven’t read a spoiler that Henry will have an issue with Emma and Hook being together. which is great.

ParticipantAgree with you as well Jenna, besides it’d be very double standard-y to have Henry get angsty over Emma’s romance, when he was totally fine with Regina & Robin’s even after he got his memories back, I mean Regina raised him for 10yrs, he’s had what, 2yrs with Emma in his life? & Neal was with Tamara for most of the time Henry knew him, since NL went down over 2weeks, Henry only knew his father for 4-6weeks tops & of that, only a few hours were post Tamara… that’s hardly time to invest a great deal in “Mum & Dad getting back together” IMO. His next memories were of Neal getting Emma sent to jail, then him being dead…It’d seem quite shallow for him get upset over Emma seeing someone new, knowing exactly what Neal did to Emma & how it affected her- he lived that for a year, that’s longer than he even knew his father.
It makes sense that he’d want to connect to his father’s memories through those that knew him best- that would be Rumple & Killian.
