I think one of the main players is going to have their shadow ripped from them by PP.

Oooh. Ooooh. oooh. I concur! My money is on Henry, but I think Rumple will step in and save him, thus making Henry his undoing. My question is: if this plays out, will be Rumple’s shadow that is removed or the Dark One’s power?

Building on that, what if Rumple’s shadow is removed and the shadow then has the Dark One’s power which is controlled by Peter Pan?

Wonder if Rumple left the dagger in SB? He thinks he’s going to his inevitable doom, so I could see him leaving it behind, either because he thinks he’s screwed anyway, or because he has a faint hope that he might get out alive if the dagger isn’t in NL with him.

It could be cool if Belle finds the dagger in SB, and then the name on it changes to PP at some point. I know there have been magic mirror theories floating around too, but the name on the dagger changing would be another way for Belle to discover where Rumple is, because everyone knows that PP is in NL. Of course, she’d think that he’s died if the name changes, which wouldn’t be so fun, but it could provide a wonderfully emotional scene between Belle and Nealfire, (assuming they’re reunited by then).

On rewatching, I noticed–Felix has his shadow. You can see it as the Lost Ones walk past Hook while he is hiding Bae in the deck below. All the boys walk and their shadows are reflected on the door. This scene is immediately following Felix telling Hook about the ripping, so if there were ever a time they wanted to make sure you’d notice Felix doesn’t have one–that would have been it.

During one of my re-watches, I was trying to decide if he had a shadow when he was standing on the edge of the boat in that one scene. Sorta thought I saw what might have been a shadow, but wasn’t convinced, and then wondered if they’d set that scene at night so that shadows or lack thereof wouldn’t be as obvious. The scene inside the boat apparently busts that idea though. Will have to keep an eye out for all those shadows on my next re-watch.

Do we know how long Hook and Bae were together? When I watched it seemed like only a few days had passed from pulling Bae out of the water and to when he was taken by the Lost Ones. But it could have been months, I suppose.

We don’t have much to go on really. Hook complimented him on getting his sealegs, but Bae said he still gets seasick, so I don’t imagine it was any great length of time, maybe a couple of weeks at most? We also don’t know yet if they encountered each other again in NL after Bae was taken, but I hope they did.

β€” now that Meghan Ory, who was promoted for a Season 2 arc that wound up truncated, has her own series, CBS’ Intelligence (where she β€œhandles” human computer Josh Holloway).

    Lucky wench! πŸ˜‰

I do hope they can keep Whale appearing now and then. Would be a waste to not involve him with THO science vs magic stuff at all, considering he’s the character who first introduced that theme to the show.

It’s bittersweet to hear that they did have plans for Frankenwolf. On the one hand, YAY coz I ship it. On the other hand, BOO coz we didn’t get to see it.

Was about to go to bed but one more comment popped into my head…

Yeah, I definitely get what you are saying. Still not sure if I like that idea since Neverland is such a fantastical island as opposed to the real world type place that Ariel was so interested in.

I’m also toying with the idea right now that maybe Tiger Lily’s people used to happily co-exist with the merfolk, until PP and his minions took the whole of NL over, which is why the merfolk turned nasty. In a scenario like that, Ariel could have observed and even possibly interacted with the type of good people she’d be fascinated by and want to live amongst.

Actually, now that I’m thinking of it, perhaps her wanting to help “win back the kingdom” so to speak could be part of her motivation for becoming human. Maybe she’ll notice Hook and his crew and realise that they’re not friends of Pan, and she wants to join forces with them. Ah, evolving headcanon right before bedtime. I’ll be dreaming of mermaids and pirates tonight. πŸ˜‰

After NL why would they need Hook around?

We have no idea what the state of play will be by the end of season 3, or even half way through season 3. The story may very well progress in such a way that Hook is still a vital part of it. Given the huge fan following the character has, I’d be surprised if they wrote him out of the show at any point in the foreseeable future. There are really only 2 people who know what Hook’s longterm story is going to involve, and that’s Adam and Eddy. All the rest of us can do at this point is guess.

I won’t lie: I’m slowly climbing aboard HMS Hookriel. The more I think about it, the more I like it. I’ve never shipped crack before. πŸ™‚

Neither have I! My tipping point was when I realised that other people were shipping this crazy idea too. If there are people writing fanfic about it, then why not just roll with it and indulge in the possibility.

I also don’t get the impression that Hook has loved anyone since Milah unless they were planning to have the traditional Little Mermaid story happen in present day. However, we don’t usually see the familiar part of the story- most often we see before it or after it. But if it turns out you are right, I could possible warm up to the idea if it’s done well. I was really against the idea of Bae having been to Neverland originally, but that turned out ok.

Phee and I have different headcanons on this but I don’t think Hook has met Ariel yet, but I do think she’s seen him from afar and is in love with him. She wants to be human to be with him but so far Hook’s only ever been interested in revenge.

And my headcanon is that she became human during Hook’s previous stay in NL, then discovered his heart already belonged to someone else, then he left, and now he’s coming back in present day and they’ll encounter each other again. There are many and varied Hookriel ideas floating around out there.

Has anyone thought about Ursula? I remember back at the first Paley Fest, when The Little Mermaid was brought up, Lana said she wanted to play Ursula. So will Ursula be someone we already know or someone new? I think I’d prefer someone new.

Regina, Rumple, and even Cora are theories that are out there for Ursula. I’d sort of like for her to be someone new though. Mind you, that tongue stealing trick of Rumple’s definitely made me think of Ursula taking Ariel’s voice. Having him switch gender to play the character would be potentially comical though, which they wouldn’t want.

But why would Prince Eric and his kingdom be in Neverland?

Ah, you’re asking the wrong person that question, because I’d be fine with them mashing Prince Eric up with Killian Jones, who is clearly in NL. πŸ˜‰

Prince Eric has no significant history or unique characterisation, he’s basically just there to give Ariel someone to fall in love with. Hook is an established character who they will want to flesh out a history for. Connecting Ariel to Hook makes her significant to an already established main character, which in turn makes her more significant in the grand scheme of the overall story. If her prince is someone else totally new, then they’re both sideline characters who are somewhat disconnected from the core storyline, and we get another Aurora/Phillip type situation where fans are sort of “meh” about them both. I’d prefer to see Ariel have some real significance, instead of having a forgettable, sideline role with some random prince.

As for Ariel…I can see them doing the Neverland angle I suppose, but I am not too keen on the idea at the moment, especially if the Neverland mermaids curse sailors who fall into the water. I just don’t see Ariel being that way.

Exactly. She’s the exception. Disney’s Triton is rather anti-human. So perhaps in the Onceiverse, that’s why merfolk are known as being dangerous. Maybe they’re under orders from their King to drown any humans they can get their hands on, (maybe because Pan and his followers have corrupted NL). But Ariel is special, because she’s the one mermaid who wants to befriend humans. If they establish that as a general rule, merfolk are dangerous and to be avoided, which has been done thanks to Hook’s comments, that serves to make Ariel unique amongst her people if she’s a NL mermaid.

I think Rumple didn’t fight for Milah because the odds were stacked against him. He had Bae to think about. If he died duelling Hook, who was far more experienced with a sword, who would’ve taken care of Bae? Rumple didn’t want Bae to have the childhood he had of growing up without a father? Bae had already lost one parent that day, he didn’t need to lose the other.

Reminds me of sentiments expressed during a recent portal scene in SB. Rumple wanted his son to be looked after by a parent just like Nealfire wanted his son to be. Really, Rumple’s heart was in the right place when it came to Bae, which makes it even sadder that the parasite of the Dark One curse corrupted him to the point that he let Bae’s hand go, subjecting the kid to the same fate he’d suffered of growing up alone.

I think the fact that Milah and Hook discussed taking Bae with them when she deemed him old enough actually makes her look worse then she did before. She chose to let Bae grow up without a mother then she would have just crashed back into Bae’s life and taken him away from the father who loved him. Rumple wouldn’t have had any say in the matter, Milah would have probably just took Bae and left again.

I can imagine conversations where Killian would tell Milah that they should go back now for Bae, that his age didn’t matter, because they could give him a good life. If what he told Bae about he and his father having dreamed of sailing the realms had any kernel of truth to it, then he could have seen Bae as his chance to live that dream that he never got to with his father.

Milah would have been the one insisting that they wait. Maybe she didn’t want to face Rumple because she was ashamed of leaving like she had. Maybe she feared what Bae’s reaction to her would be, and it was better to be left wondering rather than have it confirmed that he hated her, (shades of Nealfire being afraid to look for Emma in that). At the end of the day, Milah made her own bed. She was all kinds of wrong to leave Rumple and Bae the way that she did.

I’m sure Bae will forgive hook for his betrail, look at how he forgave rumple. And with the knowlage of what he did to his mother. Bae may also regret leaving hook.

But did he forgive Rumple? Their relationship as of ASOTM wasn’t anything like either one of them hoped it would be.

Nealfire wants to be able to forgive Rumple, but their relationship is WAY complicated. There’s no quick fix for that hot mess.
