So I find that I’m really confused about this failsafe. What is it, exactly? Did Rumple write it into the Curse. Did Regina adapt the Curse with this fail safe?
Excellent questions. I’m wondering if the failsafe is activated magically, or if there is something physical that must be done. (maybe related to Maleficent) Using Hook to do dangerous physical jobs sounds like a reason Regina would ally with him at least temporarily.
Dangerous, physical jobs like dealing with a dragon in a cave? Actually, Regina probably just wanted him to tag along because he can distract Maleficent while Regina sneaks up from behind to do whatever needs to be done. Hook is the bait, (there’s actually something sort of poetic about that).

ParticipantHad to tweet her something, so I just sent this:
@FreyaTingley @OnceABC Judging by a skill u used in a prev role, I’m betting 100 clam shells tht ur character may have trouble speaking. π@slurpeez108 wrote:
Check out her demo video: http://www.freyatingley.com/Freya_Tingley_Videos.html
There’s even a totally coincidental Peter Pan/Neverland connection in there, where she’s talking about dreaming of someone floating around outside and flying into a window. π

ParticipantHad to laugh, because I’d thought, “Hmmm, wonder if watching any of her other work might give away any clues as to what character she’d be a good fit for, ” but I didn’t actually expect to find anything. Then that popped up. π

ParticipantYa know, I just went to youtube to see if any of her other work was on there, and up popped something called Beneath The Waves (interesting title), which is a short film…about a deaf girl…see Freya using sign language in this clip:

She. Is. So. Ariel. And the reason there was no casting call for her role is that, “Must be able to sign instead of speaking,” would have been a dead giveaway. πPhee

And I need to get our timeline updated, too! This is controversial, but needs another hand to keep it up.
There has been a fair bit of timeline discussion happening over the past week. It led Keb to start a thread with the link to the timeline they’ve been working on: https://oncepodcast.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=3720 A few other people have mentioned working on their own timelines too. It could be a collaborative effort on the forum over the summer hiatus to get the details all sorted out and locked in place, perhaps? Then you’d have a complete, up to date timeline before heading into season 3, and you could recruit someone to regularly update it after each ep, moving forward from there.

Sneak Peek 1 (EXTENDED):
“The uploader has not made this video available in your country.”
π₯It’s an extended version of the scene with Regina and Henry in which she tells him his family will die. Henry calls her a villain.
Henry: What makes you think I would let you get away with any of this?
Regina: Because you won’t remember. Regina then takes out her mother’s spell book and uses magic to make Henry forget. Cuts out. Thanks for the info! Figured that’s how that scene would end. Even if she was always planning to wipe the convo from his memory, the fact she even told him in the first place was just cruel.

Greetings from Spain. Got any scoop on Once Upon a Time? βMundo Magico
Mais oui! (I failed French class.) In an upcoming TVLine Q&A, Lana Parrilla has plenty of wonderful things to say (and tease) about the final three episodes, including how the May 12 finale features βa very sobering moment, where the audience will be very surprised to see some characters have to come together, to work together, to save one another.βhttp://www.spoilertv.com/2013/04/latest-from-tvline-various-shows-25th.html
Thanks for that confirmation. We know Hook, Rumple, Regina, and the Charmings will have to band together to save Henry and each other as SB vanishes (thanks a lot for that fail-safe, Regina). π
I’m thinking (hoping) that the destruction of SB plan will go awry and become a non-issue when the new issue becomes finding Henry.

*shakes fist* Regina!! What is this fail safe. I don’t think I understand it, really. It seems like if Regina leaves, the town vanishes. Or is it, “if everyone dies and then I leave” the town vanishes.
Back when Hook was questioning Regina and Cora about being able to leave town, Regina’s only concern was losing her powers, not that the whole town would be vaporised if she set foot outside it. So I think there’s gotta be more to the failsafe than just her leaving.

See that really doesn’t make sense they seem to make up stuff as they go, I was the impress or I thought I read before this that Henry wasn’t effected.
They’ve said it several times and apparently there was a scene that got cut for time from one of the first episodes where Henry explains that. They aren’t making stuff up I think, but it’s something they’ve explained in other places because people wondered.
If there is one thing I’m absolutely sure of, it’s that K&H had fundamental parts of the story like this firmly planned from before they started making the show. They started putting the concept of this show together years ago, before they even started working on Lost. They had a lot of time to research and create this story. They have a clear vision of the rules of the universe they have created. They wouldn’t just retcon a vital point like how Henry was affected by growing up in SB.
They may have given slightly different wording to explain it at various times, but ultimately, I think it all comes down to the same idea, that of course the curse had to have had some affect on Henry, because it was the only world he ever knew. And once he reached a certain age, he became more aware, and realised he was different to everyone else and started to question things and snapped out of the haze he’d been living in all his life. The book was like his talisman. David had the windmill, Lacey had the matchbook, those items snapped something in their brain. The book snapped something in Henry’s brain, but in the opposite direction, because it made him start to question, instead of just blindly accept. He’s a unique case, no one else had the same relationship to the curse that he did, and he did have an unavoidable relationship with the curse.
