Ohhh I missed that somehow! Okay. Good. Then the book really is more limited. This is good to know now.
But I wonder why H&G would be mentioned in the book at all if the author didn’t know what really happened to their dad. I think H&G know that the queen had him and that she separated them, right?

Sometimes we see the camera do a kind of zoom-in towards an illustration in the book. When we (the viewer) see one of those, we can assume it’s a story from the book. The other times, it’s a once before.
Okay, cool.

ParticipantI also thought that Gold must be listening in on Emma and Henry’s conversations over the walkies. We will see i guess.

KeymasterWe were originally supposed to see Mr. K. again in “Fruit of the Poisonous Tree,” but his scene must’ve been cut. I’m guessing there was a scene of Sidney and Emma going to see Mr. K. at public records for the boxes they got to investigate Regina.

ParticipantI have two theories that are – I admit – way out in left field. But here goes…
Remember when Mr. Gold gave those walkie-talkies to Emma? Well, it’s likely Mr. Gold has a third walkie-talkie listening on the same frequency(s) as the set he gave Emma. This never happened on camera, but perhaps there was a time when Emma and Henry were talking about the location of the book, and that’s how Mr. Gold knew the location where the book was buried. After which Mr. Gold hired The Stranger to dig up the book.
I’m not confident in that theory because we’ve seen Mr. Gold do his own digging (on a couple of occasions) so why he’d want to hire an outsider is beyond me. Also, why Mr. Gold would care about the book at all is beyond me. (However, I strongly believe Mr. Gold is listening in their converstations.)
Another left-field theory is The Stranger is the author of the book, and maybe The Stranger has a mystical link with it. When Henry tore out the last couple of pages from the book, the Stranger could sense the book had been damaged, so he sought it out. Furthermore this “sense” allowed him to find the buried box at the playground. This is all plausable but would be an odd direction for the show to go.
Something I noticed and have not heard anyone on the podcast mention: The very end of Friut of the Poisonous Tree, (or maybe it was 7:15AM, I forget), when you see The Stranger break the padlock of the box containing the book. There is a very brief moment when the camera is gliding by what looked to me like a set of thieves tools. Either The Stranger broke into Regina’s house (hence the need for a set of thieves tools,) or he just had them rolled out on his bed because that’s where he kept his padlock-busting sheers. 😀

ParticipantI don’t think that the book is completely correct. Like it said that Hansel and Gretel’s father ran off and that was it. And that isn’t true. The queen took their father. So it makes the information in the book suspect. Though it was correct about Emma’s birth. So who knows what that means.

ParticipantIt is like their minds just don’t notice. I think that makes sense completely. There is so much that people don’t noticed in real life. It is like there is something wrong with their memories. It is like they have a blind spot in their memories and we really don’t know what it was like in town before Emma came. Now that Emma is in town things seem fairly normal except everyone is rather unhappy, but people still do normal things like go to work and go out on dates and hang out with friends, but before Emma came into town maybe everyone just got up and went to work and had really bad dates and went home. They interacted with Henry and that seems to have woke people up a bit because Archie was telling Henry to not give into his dark side and Mary gave Henry the book, but before Henry it may have been worse.
Like maybe Mary had been going on a really bad date with Dr. Whale every once in awhile for years. It is like there is something wrong with their memories. It is like nothing important happened to them in the last 28 years so there is nothing to notice, no defining characteristics, and they are all just unaware of the passage of time. They have no concept of years gone by and such. That is all different now that Emma is here and time has resumed. I think Ashley is lucky that she can’t remember being nine months pregnant for 28 years. That doesn’t sound like fun.
PS, It is like they are working around the holes in people’s concentration. Like people can’t concentrate on those things because there is something wrong with them.

ParticipantLoving the ideas of everyone! Maybe this has been discussed, the clock was frozen till Emma arrived. I think setting a timeline would have to come back to the time of the curse and if the clock stopped at the same time. Looking forward to more podcasts!
