ParticipantI’ve come to terms that the show is what it is, and not what I thought it was going to be. I do not really enjoy the story any longer. Now the writers want the audience to forget about Baelfire, to forget that Henry first learned sailing from his dad. In fact, the writers decided to toy with the audience two years in a row by bringing up two poential ways (i.e time-travel and literally re-writing history) to bring back Neal, and then just as quickly slammed shut those possibilities. Zelena said to Rumple (in a very meta way) that it wasn’t “idle cruelty”–that there really was a way to bring back his son–but then that is precisely what it turned out to be: idle cruelty. A&E turned out to be toying with us they way Rumple said the author was toying with him. These writers passed over a chance for Belle to kiss Rumple goodbye and potentially save him the same way they passed over the chance for Emma or Rumple to kiss Neal goodbye. And why? So Hook can be rebranded the hero and get to save the savior with TLK.
I’ve noticed something lately. Most of the people I follow on tumblr are Rumbellers, but I notice more and more are posting vocally anti-CS and anti-Hook things. In the past they just kept quiet and stayed in the “Rumbelle bubble” but it’s creeping out more and more. People I’ve never seen talk about Hook are now reblogging Hook hate. It’s very interesting.
About Hook, I agree there are a lot of people “coming out of the closet” so to speak in vocalizing their dislike. He’s one of those characters who really divides a lot of crowds, precisely because he roguish, yet handsome. I was reading The Rogue Prince by G.R.R. Martin (thanks for a great recommendation) and Prince Dameon’s character description I think also really fits with Hook. He’s described as “dashing, daring and dangerous.” From The Rogue Prince:
“Over the centuries, House Targaryen has produced both great men and monsters. Prince Daemon was both. In his day there was not a man so admired, so beloved, and so reviled in all Westeros. He was made of light and darkness in equal parts. To some he was a hero, to others the blackest of villains.”
Also, the way his character is perceived by other characters in the story also seems to really capture how people seem to react to Hook.

ParticipantWell, the DO now seems a lot like the Shadow/Pan relationship, though the DO seems less sentient.
The darkness seems to have some sort of sentience though. Question is how much of Rumple’s actions were his own and how much were they influenced by the darkness? It’s implied that the darkness would have taken control of Rumple and puppetted him hence the “no one’s home” line, so the darkness’ influence on Rumple was seemingly growing stronger. Also as Blue Fairy said in season 1 in the Return, Baelfire was a glimmer of light to Rumple which kept him human, Belle serves this purpose too. With Baelfire’s death, it could be argued that the darkness’ hold on Rumple strengthened because there was now one less person to keep him human.
I also had a crack theory on why certain people are chosen to be the dark one based on what the apprentice said about strength of the heart. Why the darkness went for Regina, the apprentice, and then Emma and not Snowing, Robin, or Hook. It’s not to do with magic, since Rumple had no magic when he became the dark one, it’s to do with the strength of the heart, the strength to carry on despite what obstacles life throws at you.
Rumple, Emma and Regina have had difficult lives, probably the most difficult of the main characters. They’ve lost people but they’ve carried on surviving regardless, they’ve pulled through. Compare this to Hook and Snowing who have a death wish when it comes to losing loved ones. Hook went on a suicidal mission to avenge Milah whilst Snow was ready to die if the heart splitting failed to save Charming because she couldn’t bear to live without him. Hook and Snow were ready to give up on life whilst Rumple, Emma and Regina had the will to survive.
All magic comes with a price!

ParticipantI weep as a Rumbeller that my TLK B&TB ending is going to CS. I have a lot of anger over this. I’m cheated out of it. I wish I could say words that are not permitted here but I won’t.
I am 1000% percent sure that Hook’s kiss will break her curse. It would be more circular and appropriate for Henry to kiss Emma but it will never happen. They’re head-over-heels, totally in love with Killy Willy Poo and of course will give the kiss to her. Then we’ll hear so much crap about Milah and how he never loved her (despite being on a quest for revenge for hundreds of years). Talk about flipping tables. My only hope is that ratings continue to tank on this subpar storytelling.

ParticipantAssuming the dark cloud took Emma away to Camelot, I don’t think itd be odd that it can return her to SB if summoned.

KeymasterIf Emma is the Dark One… That means TLK is probably coming to cure her of the darkness. And I have a feeling it would henry’s maternal (well..son-ternal?) love for his mama.
I wrote this elsewhere so I’ll just repeat myself. (not to be mean, just because I want people to prepare themselves)
Given that 511 is (I believe) the 100th episode, A and E would see it as being a rich way to bring their story to a circular close (in a way; obviously we’d have another half season at least of OUAT). Emma saved Henry with a TLK in 122, someone saves Emma with a TLK in 511, thus closing the arc of Dark! Swan.
In fact, I believe they’ll even have the similar dialogue. There’s a reason why they didn’t have Hook say ILY back to Emma in 422 and it’s because they want the impact for 511. So, basically Emma will probably be super duper dark, Hook decides he doesn’t care, if she’s going to destroy the world or whatever he’ll die alongside her (cause Jane Espenson is still on the writing staff and “yellow crayon”–if you don’t get the reference, then my heart is broken and you need to spend the summer with BtVS), goes up and says “ILY Emma” (just like Emma in 122 says “I love you Henry” for the first time) kisses her, rainbows, curse broken. Circular storytelling.
It SHOULD be Henry because he’s Emma’s canonical true love. But…it ain’t happening.

ParticipantQuestion: the dagger is left lying in the road, with Emma’s name on it. Couldn’t someone–Hook, Henry, Snowing, Regina–just pick it up and summon Emma back to SB?
Not if she’s in another realm.
Has that been established in show?
Well, essentially the dagger just forces the Dark One to teleport himself if someone summons them. And obviously it’s been established that the Dark One doesn’t have the power to cross realms just like that. Can’t order the Dark One to do something they’re unable to do.
But honestly I doubt ANY orders would work. Like, they can’t just whisper “lift your hand up” to the dagger in Storybrooke, and Emma in whatever realm she’s in would do it. Would seem a bit odd, in my opinion.
