I think it’s because the Dark Curse is more powerful than his own curse. I think he has found some way to use the Dark Curse and the Love Potion to bring back Bae, and then has figured out a way to destroy the Dark Curse which will also destroy his own curse which will ultimately destroy all magic.

That’s what I thought too because Regina used her keys (my keys 😆 ) to go into their house and take the letter before he could read it.

I just thought it was interesting since Abigail also told James that she was fine with James and Snow being together. Then Kathryn told David the same thing. Then we were made to assume that Regina doctored the phone records but it seems she didn’t.

But, once again Dumb David manages to screw it all up. He still hasn’t shared that Kathryn told him that he and MM should be together (that to me would be the important piece of info to share if you want to HELP MM). No, no – instead he wants to know why the long haired version of MM wearing men’s clothing says she is going to “kill her” in the middle of a snow storm.

Has anyone asked to be the keeper of David’s low IQ yet???

One show being all SB or all FTL would be fine with me. There are a lot of times where I wish a show would have gone into more detail in either SB or FTL anyway.

I’ve actually wondered if she is even going to know who Gold is even if she DOES remember Rumple. He only started to change back into a normal looking guy when she kissed him and then he immediately changed back into Rumple when he got mad – so I don’t think she ever got a really good look at him. So even if she has been sitting in the looney bin for 28 years pining away over Rumple, I’m a bit concerned she could walk right into Gold on the street and have not a clue who he is.

Belle didn’t seem too keen on the queen when she met her on the road until she started to tell her about how to break the curse. Since Belle is supposed to be so smart, I’m guessing that when the queen captured her in FTL she figured out that she had been tricked by the queen and I think she probably knew where to lay the blame. I had the impression that she recognized Regina and had a look of disgust on her face for her when she saw her peering in on her in her “cell.”

But what will be interesting is to see what her understanding of things is. If she does remember who she is – she won’t have had a way to understand the curse, so like you said she won’t understand 28 years of being locked up in a mental institution. Compared to Jefferson who does have an understanding of the curse so he recognizes what has been going on – and he is pretty messed up even with an understanding of it. Imagine what she will be like if she doesn’t understand what has been going on.

I actually think the bigger problem is going to be Gold himself. I think he has the potential to implode on himself when he realizes she is alive. First for believing that she was dead in the first place and not trying to rescue her in FTL – which will then make him go through the guilt he felt over throwing her out all over again. But then the realization that she has been there in SB all along for 28 years locked up in mental institution. Knowing how much power he has in the town and that he probably could have gotten her out, I think that realization is going to be almost too much for him to take – especially if she is really messed up.

Right, but he didn’t remember this until he was hypnotized – just like he didn’t remember seeing MM in the woods until he was hypnotized – and that was a REAL memory. Archie woke David up when he said he “went too deep into hypnosis.” That was when he went into his FTL memories. But the part of the his memory where he said that he spoke to Kathryn on the phone and she said that he and MM should be together are consistent with what she wrote in her letters. Why would Regina burn a letter to David that says that he and MM should be together but then give him a false memory of the same thing?

I have wondered if they might have all the episodes in SB if they have the characters all figure out who they are by the finale. I actually think it might be kind of interesting to see how the characters handle being fairy tale characters in modern day times – how would their day to day lives change? Would they remember all the modern conveniences or would they be perplexed by what they see around them and have to re-adjust to SB as if they just arrived? Would they want to try to create another Fairy Tale type land or would they be happy with SB? Or, alternately, if only a few characters figure out who they are, it could be kind of comical to see them interact with people who they know to be Fairy Tale characters but they can’t let on or it would freak them out.

Not sure how I would feel about a FTL only season. I guess it would depend on how it was done. Wouldn’t that mean that Emma and Henry wouldn’t exist though? Or at least Emma would only be a baby?? I can’t imagine that the two actors wouldn’t be in the second season.

I re-watched the episode yesterday and found it interesting that when Regina and Gold were talking in the hallway Regina said “The only reason I agreed to make a deal with you was . . .” which implied to me that Gold went to HER to her to make the deal. That means that Gold wanted something. So it appears that what happened is that Gold got what HE wanted out of the deal and Regina didn’t. So from my point of view I don’t think that Gold is working with Regina at all. He still appears to be working his own agenda only now he has Emma to help him do it – only she doesn’t realize she is helping him.

I went back and re-watched it yesterday. I also thought it was just a reflection. Umm, no. It actually, lights up brightly – twice in fact. And there’s a bit of a sound that goes along with it. I have no idea what it means though.

hjbau – I think Robert Carlyle actually addressed your issue with Rumple and Belle in one of his Twitter sessions. Someone asked him why he used Snow and Charming’s hair for the love potion but said something like “What? Didn’t Belle leave a hair brush laying around?” His response was something like “That’s why he fired her. The love potion was a very big moment.” I took away from that very short and kind of kind of kryptic tweet that he was saying that Rumple recognized that he was NOT good for Belle because of what the curse had done to him so even though he may have loved her he needed to make her leave and use the hair of a love that that is pure.

I think if we keep in mind what Disney did with their Beauty and the Beast story when it first came out – they changed from having the female character be the pretty girl who was waiting to be rescued by her prince and made her a strong intelligent woman who motivated the flawed male character to want to change for HER. If you think about it in that context I think they are doing exactly the same thing with Belle and Rumple in OUaT – only our flawed male character also appears in every other fairy tale we see on the show so we see just how incredibly flawed he really is. It’s a totally different story when the curse doesn’t just turn the prince into a big giant teddy bear with fangs who doesn’t know how to use the proper dining utensils.

And Kitsis and Horowitz have addressed how morally complicated they have made the show – they WANT people to be bothered that David is having an affair with MM – but wait a minute, he really ISN’T having an affair with MM because MM is REALLY his wife. They have said the same with the villians – they have created villians that aren’t entirely evil because they wanted to show WHY they became evil and they are showing the dark side of characters we have always believed to be only good – like Snow White.
